Hello, I am Christopher DeYoe.
I am a landscape, animal, and aircraft artist.
I have always had a passion for art. Though I am educated as a Physical Scientist, I spent all of my professional career as a Cartographer. There is a lot of art in cartography.
Later in life, I started concentrating on painting. I started with small acrylic paintings. Acrylic painting was right for me because I have a very short attention span. I was able to produce 3 to 5 paintings per week and most took less than an hour.
However, something was missing. I wanted to be able to blend more with my painting and achieve more vibrate colors. So, I introduced myself to oils.
I love working with oils, however, I had to have multiple paintings going on at the same time because I didn’t have the patience to wait for paintings to dry between layers…..remember my curse of a short attention span. But, even that curse eventually went away with more painting.
I was then introduced to alkyd paints. Finally, an oil paint that could keep up with my pace.
Anyway, now I intermix acrylic, tranditional oils, and alkyd oils in all my paintings.
Painting is peaceful and satisfies the “side” of my brain that was starved for so long from doing “science”.
